What is real estate prospecting?

Real estate prospecting is the outbound process of identifying and reaching out to potential seller clients through calls, door knocking, direct mail, and social media. Agents who prospect consistently build a more predictable pipeline of listings because they’re starting conversations rather than waiting for inbound leads to find them.

Real estate agents get seller leads by prospecting directly to homeowners who are most likely to sell. For example, expired listings, For Sale by Owner sellers, pre-foreclosure homeowners, and landlords.
